It’s been a couple of months since I got back into helping localize Mozilla Firefox into Tagalog. With relatively more time I can allocate nowadays into my personal endeavors (Mozilla and bike advocacies being a huge chunk of it), I want to be able to contribute my time and my fluency in the language so that we can be proud to finally have our very own, Philippine-language Firefox!

Right now, it stands at 98%, a mere 156 strings left to translate before we are able to push it forward to the next channel (which I imagine would be beta)! It’s been a crazy-happy journey in these past couple of months, since I resumed contributing last July, and I probably went on overdrive at times because it’s just simply FUN to be able to volunteer for something you enjoy doing, and you know you are capable of doing! Super duper happy to be part of the team working together to offer a Filipino product to Filipinosand probably some foreigners too, who are into the language. 😀

Tagalog Firefox is almost here!!! From translation platforms Narro, to Pootle, and now, Pontoon, the team at Mozilla PH has been through several tools to get this long-awaited version out.

Stay tuned! We are almost done! What are your thoughts about having a software in the local language? Go / no go? Weird? Interesting? Maybe something worth exploring and considering? You can try the nightly build of Firefox to give it an early preview, and let me know what you think! Maraming salamat po!!
